Tingley Beach features three fishing lakes, a model boating pond and a train station with gift shop and food service. During the summer only, Tingley visitors can rent pedal boats and bicycles. There are also free fishing clinics at the Central pond every month from April through November.

Tingley Beach is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year and is free to the public. The facility cannot be reserved. Tingley Beach is a facility of the ABQ BioPark, which is a division of the City of Albuquerque's Cultural Services Department.

Please note, however, that any activity at Tingley Beach related to media, news conferences, special/large group events and the like must be reviewed and approved in advance by the City of Albuquerque. Please call 505-768-2000 for assistance.

 

 

 

Tingley Beach is now recycling fishing line. Look for the blue and white bins all around the fishing ponds to recycle your fishing line!

NOTICE: The Zoo Train and Rio Line are closed for maintenance on Mondays. No combo tickets to the facilities will be sold on Mondays. Trains will be running as usual Tuesday through Sunday.

Tingley Beach is located on Tingley Drive, south of Central Avenue just east of the Central bridge.

Tingley Beach is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year and is free to the general public on a first come, first served basis. Tingley Beach cannot be reserved.

Tingley Beach amenities (gift shop & food services) do not operate January 1, Thanksgiving Day (11/27/08), and December 25. Gift shop and cafe hours vary with the season.

Weekly Fishing Report

  • Angling for catfish in the Central and Children's Ponds has been hit and miss with best reports from anglers using hotdogs and stinkbait in the morning and evening hours.  Bluegill fishing has been excellent all summer when using worms a foot below a bobber.  Look forward to the NMDGF stocking over 1,300 pounds of catfish in the Central and Children's Pond before this weekend!  
  • Trout fishing in the South/Catch and Release Pond has been poor.        

 

  • Tingley Beach is open to the public at no charge, every day of the year, from sunrise to sunset. A New Mexico fishing license for anglers 12 years and older is all that is required to fish in these well-stocked fishing Ponds.

  • The Tingley Beach South Pond is designated as a Quality Water of the State of New Mexico. More information on state regulations of Quality Waters is available in the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish's Fishing Regulations. Jocelynn and Gianna and fish!

 

Kids are enjoying the extra stockings of trout in the Children's Pond from the NMDGF.  Jocelynn, 4 years old, and her sister Gianna, 3, caught a nice trout using PowerBait on Monday, January 18th. Way to go girls!

Looking for something to do on your lunch hour? Try catching and releasing the huge trout in South Pond at Tingley Beach during your lunch break. A nice trout was pulling at the end of this line last week and instant stress relief from work and the holidays was achieved!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ron Berlint's big rainbow

 

 

Ron Berlint, of Albuquerque, caught and released a gorgeous rainbow estimated at 28 inches and weighing about 8 lbs. on Thursday, Jan. 14th using a red San Juan worm in the Tingley Beach South Pond.

For Persons with Mobile Disabilities  

  • There is an accessible ramp at the Children's Pond for children with mobile disabilities. Adults with a mobile disability accompanying children who are fishing may find it easiest to assist their children by fishing off the wooden dock at the Children's Pond.
  • A wheelchair accessible ramp is available at the Central Pond in front of the Train Station. Preference is given to adults and children fishing with mobile disabilities.
  • The Model Boat Pond is accessible by a ramp to the water's edge.

Regulations and Security  

Tingley Beach is continuously patrolled by Albuquerque Police and BioPark Security Officers. New Mexico Game and Fish Department officers randomly check fishing licenses. Know the rules before you go: Tingley Beach Regulations.
