Third Party Plan Review

To help streamline the plan review process, applicants may choose to have their construction documents reviewed by a City of Albuquerque approved Third-Party Review Agency instead of undergoing the building code review directly by the City. Once the Third-Party Agency has approved the plans, they must be uploaded to ABQ-PLAN, the City’s official electronic plan review and permitting system.
Please note: Third-party review covers building code compliance only. All other required approvals including zoning, fire, transportation, hydrology, and any additional applicable reviews must still be completed by the City of Albuquerque.
As an alternative to completing zoning, hydrology, and transportation reviews during your ABQ-PLAN submission, applicants may choose to apply for a Site Plan Administrative or Site Plan DFT review in advance. This option allows those specific reviews to be addressed prior to submitting plans to a City approved third-party review agency.
Important Note: It is critical for customers to understand that they must still receive site plan approval. Customers may wish to apply for the Site Plan Administrative Zoning prior to obtaining Third-Party Plan reviews.

Important Reminder
Submitting plans to a Third-Party Review Agency does not authorize construction to begin. A valid building permit must be issued by the City of Albuquerque, and all associated fees must be paid in full before any construction activity may commence. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in enforcement actions or delays in project approval.
