COVID-19 UPDATE (4/1/2021): The Jerry Cline Tennis Center and Sierra Vista Tennis Complex are open at 33 percent capacity. Court reservations are required and can be made by calling the facility directly. Tennis courts in City parks are open at 33 percent capacity. Please do your part by staying home as much as possible, wearing a mask and social distancing when you must go out, and washing your hands often.

Albuquerque is home to two great public tennis facilities: Jerry Cline and Sierra Vista West.

Albuquerque has dozens of public tennis courts for everyone's enjoyment. Our warm weather makes Albuquerque an ideal place for a game of singles or doubles, and introductory lessons are available starting at age five through adult.

Whether you are a beginner or an old hand, make plans for some time on the court.

Tennis Class Descriptions

  • Red Ball Beginner: Ages 5 to 8
    Focus is on technique, rallies and athletic development.
  • Red Ball Intermediate:Ages 7 to 9
    Focus is on consistency, placement and play.
  • Orange Ball: Ages 8 to 11
    Focus is on tactics and recognition skills.
  • Green Ball: Ages 10 to 14
    Focus is on game play.
  • Yellow Ball Beginner and Intermediate: Ages 12+
    Focus is on developing skills for future recreational play.

Summer tennis lessons for juniors and adults will take place at Jerry Cline, Sierra Vista, Arroyo Del Oso, and North Domingo Baca Tennis Courts. Not all skill and age levels are available every hour. Proof of age (birth certificate) is required for children joining 5- to 7-year-old classes. Lessons will run in two-week sessions, Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday. All lessons are 50-minute classes. The cost is $40 for 5-day sessions for Juniors and $38 for 4-day sessions for Juniors.

Drop-In Tennis League

Currently Unavailable due to COVID-19 Restrictions

What is the Adult Drop-In League? It is an informal, friendly tennis league sponsored by the City of Albuquerque and run by the Jerry Cline Recreation and Tennis Facility and the Sierra Vista Tennis Center.

One must have a minimum intermediate skill level to qualify, as determined by the Drop-In Coordinator. Juniors are generally not permitted, but an occasional exception may be made. The cost for all Drop-In sessions is $3 per person; tennis balls are provided. All participants are expected to abide by the full Drop In policy.

Arrive early to insure a spot.

Ball Machine Rental

Both the Jerry Cline Recreation and Tennis Center and the Sierra vista Tennis Center have ball machine rentals.

The cost is $8 per hour. Call first and reserve your time.
