The 44th Army Band is “New Mexico’s Own” Army National Guard Band and the state’s musical military ambassador. The 44th Army Band represents the 93rd Troop Command, the New Mexico Adjutant General and the Governor of New Mexico, and its roots can be traced back to 1590. Today, the 44th Army Band performs in support of military, civic, and diplomatic events across the state of New Mexico. The band currently consists of the “44th Army Band Jazz Orchestra” 1940s-style big band; “Breaking Brass” brass band; “Mariachi Adelante” traditional mariachi ensemble; “Green Chile” rock band; “44th Jazz Collective” small jazz combo; “44th Saxes” saxophone quintet; “Zia Winds” wind quintet; and any other formation required to accomplish any musical mission. Stop by the Gazebo in Historic Old Town to hear them perform.
