About the Northwest Area

The Northwest Area is bordered by Albuquerque city limits to the west and north, the west bank of the Rio Grande to the east, and Interstate 40 to the south.

Meet the Commander

The Northwest Area Command is overseen by Commander Cecily Barker.

Commander Cecily Barker started the Albuquerque Police Academy in 2004. During her career with APD, Commander Barker has worked various assignments in the Field Services Bureau, supervising teams in the Southwest and Northwest, served as a Field Training Coordinator and Crisis Intervention Coordinator, worked for the Violent Crime Division, as a Lieutenant overseeing the Juvenile (Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail) and Property Crimes Division, and as the Lieutenant of Criminalistics (Major Crime Scene Team, Crime Scene Specialists, Property Crime Reporting Technicians and the Photo Lab).
