About the Northwest Area
The Northwest Area is bordered by Albuquerque city limits to the west and north, the west bank of the Rio Grande to the east, and Interstate 40 to the south.

Meet the Commander
The Northwest Area Command is overseen by Commander Arturo Sanchez.
Commander Arturo Sanchez started with the Albuquerque Police Department in 2001 after lateraling from Roanoke City, Virginia, where he started his law enforcement career. He worked as an officer in Field Services Bureau (FSB) until 2008 in Southeast, Valley, Foothills and Southwest Area Commands. During that time, he served as a field training officer, Emergency Response Team (ERT) Officer, Crisis Intervention Officer, Gang Suppression Officer, and was an Impact Detective in the Southeast Area Command.
