Commander Cecily Barker

Commander Cecily Barker started the Albuquerque Police Academy in 2004. She worked as an officer in the Field Services Bureau until 2012, primarily in the Southwest and Northwest Area Commands. During that time, she served as a Field Training Officer, Gang Suppression Officer and Crisis Intervention Officer.

She was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and she supervised teams in the Southwest and Northwest serving as a Field Training Coordinator and Crisis Intervention Coordinator. As a Sergeant, she also worked for the Violent Crime Division where she supervised the Family Abuse and Stalking Training Team, Missing Persons and Cold Case units. She also worked the on-call rotation for homicide and officer involved shootings supervising the scenes.

She was promoted to Lieutenant in 2017. As a Lieutenant, she oversaw the Juvenile (Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail) and Property Crimes Division. Most recently, Commander Barker was the Lieutenant of Criminalistics (Major Crime Scene Team, Crime Scene Specialists, Property Crime Reporting Technicians and the Photo Lab) and supervised homicide and violent crime scenes.

She has also worked as a Project Lead for paragraphs specific to the CASA.

Commander Barker was born and raised in Albuquerque. She graduated from Cibola High School and was a college athlete. I have an Associates degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors of Justice Administration.
