In addition to patrol officers, the University Area Command also has a Proactive Response Team (PRT) Officers, who conduct proactive enforcement in crime areas, and conduct community engagement and outreach.
About the University Area
The University Area Command is a diverse and unique area of the city. Home to the two largest hospitals in the city; the University of New Mexico Hospital and the main Presbyterian Hospital. The University Area Command is also home to the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico College main campus. Neighboring the Albuquerque International Sunport and Kirtland Air force Base, the University Area Command is also home to Nob Hill, a historic shopping and business district. The University Area Command boundaries include San Mateo west to I-25, as well as I-40 South to the city limits. The area command covers approximately 30 square miles, expanding as far south as the Mesa Del Sol community.
