How the Program Works

• Funding is awarded through a competitive application process.
• Application are accepted online only and reviewed on a rolling bases.
• Funding is limited, and not all applications will be awarded.
• Applications submitted by mail, email, or in-person will not be accepted.

Grant Amounts

Grant awards are based on the size of the building facade:

• Small facades (400–3,000 sq. ft.): up to $3,000
• Medium facades (3,000–6,400 sq. ft.): up to $5,000
• Large facades (6,400 sq. ft. and over): up to $10,000
• Exterior murals (400 sq. ft. and larger): award amounts are based on project estimates, with a maximum award of $10,000

Example:

If one exterior wall measures 25 feet wide by 16 feet tall, the total area is 400 square feet (sq. ft.)

If you plan to paint two exterior walls, each measuring 400 sq. ft., the total facade area is 800 sq. ft.

Your building facade size would be 800 sq. ft.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, properties must meet the following criteria:

• Property is located within a designated Metropolitan Redevelopment Area along Central Avenue or 4th Street
  • Barelas, Downtown, Central/Highland/Upper Nob Hill, East Downtown, East Gateway, Historic Central, Near Heights, Sycamore, Soldiers & Sailors Park, University, West Central
• Property is commercial or mixed-use (single-family residential properties are not eligible)
• Property owners with multiple properties may apply for more than one location, but may receive no more than two (2) awards total
