Fresh Coat: Program Overview

The Fresh Coat Improvement Grant provides funding to help property owners refresh and improve building exteriors within designated Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas. The program supports exterior paint and mural projects that enhance the look of buildings, strengthen neighborhood pride, and help attract customers and foot traffic along key corridors.

How the Program Works

  • Funding is awarded through a competitive application process.
  • Application are accepted online only and reviewed on a rolling bases.
  • Funding is limited, and not all applications will be awarded.
  • Applications submitted by mail, email, or in-person will not be accepted.

Grant Amounts

Grant awards are based on the size of the building facade:

  • Small facades (400–3,000 sq. ft.): up to $3,000
  • Medium facades (3,000–6,400 sq. ft.): up to $5,000
  • Large facades (6,400 sq. ft. and over): up to $10,000
  • Exterior murals (400 sq. ft. and larger): award amounts are based on project estimates, with a maximum award of $10,000

Example:

If one exterior wall measures 25 feet wide by 16 feet tall, the total area is 400 square feet (sq. ft.)

If you plan to paint two exterior walls, each measuring 400 sq. ft., the total facade area is 800 sq. ft.

Your building facade size would be 800 sq. ft.
