Old Town Holiday Stroll

The annual lighting of the tree in Plaza Don Luis.

Old Town Holiday Stroll 2017

Friday, December 7, 2018 | 5-9 p.m. | Historic Old Town

Set the holiday season in motion with entertainment, dining, shopping, and more.

Lighting of the Tree | 6 p.m. | Plaza Don Luis

Sip hot chocolate and enjoy live entertainment in the plaza in anticipation for the annual lighting of Albuquerque's largest Christmas Tree. Plaza Don Luis is located on Romero Street.

The tradition holds a special meaning for the Aceves family. 2017 marked the tree lighting ceremony's silver anniversary, and the first since the passing of Henry Aceves, longtime Old Town business owner and the one who, along with his wife Karen, began the tree lighting community tradition.

Free parking is available at the lot on the corner of 18th St. and Bellamah Ave. Free shuttles will take event-goers to several locations including Explora, The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and The Albuquerque Museum near Old Town Plaza.

Streets throughout Old Town will close to traffic starting at 3 p.m. to prepare for our big celebration. Please plan accordingly and arrive early.

Parking lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area, please be sure to follow all parking laws.

In addition to the fun in Old Town, Explora, The NM Museum of Natural History and Science and The Albuquerque Museum will be open, joining in the festivities with activities and entertainment for the evening. Enjoy free admission!

At Explora, teens can meet a local scientist and find out about their work and career in the FREE Teen Science Café from 5-7 p.m. Snacks and activity or demo included. Visitors of all ages can Make It, Take It DIY LED Mini Luminarias and Chromatography Snowflakes, take a photo on the high wire bike with holiday props and explore the exhibits.
