I live in a poorly maintained apartment/house. What can I do? Make contact with the Housing Code Enforcement at 311(similar to 411) and report the problem to us. We will schedule a visit and begin work to have the landlord or property owner repair the property.
I filed a complaint a day ago, a week ago or a month ago, and nothings happened. What is going on? After we perform our inspection, we notify the owners of the violations and the corrections required. We are required by the Code to allow the owners 30 days to comply. If the owner does not comply then we take them to court, this is a four to eight week process. So rest assured we are working on the problem, but it will take time.

Can I purchase a posted/condemned property from the City of Albuquerque? No, the City of Albuquerque does not take title to the property. The owner, bank, or realtor would be a first contact for these inquires. Ownership can be found by contacting the County Assessor at 222-3700 or the web site.

What is Code Enforcements turn around time when responding to a complaint? Inspectors will normally respond to a complaint within 48 hours, if there is a violation the inspector will begin enforcement at that time.
What does Code Enforcement do versus Zoning? Code Enforcement addresses existing structures that a person can reside within; Zoning deals with the use of the property and the exterior condition of the building.
