Description
The age-old allegorical tale of the devil tempting a mortal with great knowledge and wealth comes to the KiMo Theatre March 10-11 through the music of The Figueroa Project, with a narrative by noted National Public Radio commentator Toby Appel and actor/dancers Joe Moncada, Louis Giannini and Courtney Giannini. Igor Stravinsky’s “The Soldier’s Tale” will be a treat for the eyes and ears – bound up in a morality tale for the mind. Charlie Daniels Band did this story country-western style, Goethe’s Faust did it for the stage, Stravinsky combined both music and the stage for his rendition. The man wins in Charlie Daniels’ version and after much travail in Faust. In Stravinsky’s “Tale” – well, perhaps you should come see for yourself. The March Figueroa Project program is filled out with Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, an easily recognizable and hauntingly beautiful piece alternately big and stately, and lightly lilting.
Music & Wine:
The Casa Rondena Winery will pour their award-winning wines in specially designed commemorative glasses that patrons can take home.
