Christmas Tree - Aceves Family

The annual lighting of Albuquerque's largest Christmas tree holds a special meaning for the Aceves family. This year marks the tree lighting ceremony's silver anniversary, and the first since the passing of Henry Aceves, longtime Old Town business owner and the one who, along with his wife Karen, made the tree lighting a community tradition.

This year's 55-foot tree will be made up of 155 trees, all from a certified tree farm in Rociada, N.M. A ceremony and special countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree begins at 6 p.m. in Plaza Don Luis, which is named after Henry's father.
