JR Rael serves as the Executive Operations Officer for the City of Albuquerque, where he oversees the Solid Waste Department, the Office of the City Clerk, and the Department of Technology and Innovation. In addition to managing these departments, he leads major priorities set by the Administration—bringing together teams from across the City to deliver strategic programs and engage the community on issues that matter citywide.

Before joining the Mayor’s administration, JR was Deputy State Treasurer for New Mexico, where he managed the state’s banking services and investment division during a time of record revenues. He also served as Chief Administrative Officer for the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office, overseeing operations and guiding policy initiatives on issues ranging from natural resource management to opioid abatement efforts. Earlier in his career, he was Chief Operating Officer for a New Mexico law firm, managing its business operations and growth.
