Acting Director of Aviation Manny Manriquez

Manny Manriquez serves as Director of the City of Albuquerque’s Aviation Department, overseeing operations and development at the Albuquerque International Sunport and Double Eagle II Airport, including the ongoing Dream of Flight: Sunport Reimagined renovation project. In this role, he leads efforts to strengthen airport infrastructure, modernize operations, and improve the overall passenger experience.

He grew up in Oakland, California and Albuquerque and earned degrees from UC Berkeley and Georgetown University, with a career spanning global commerce, emerging technology, national security, and mobility policy. Prior to joining the City of Albuquerque in 2022, he held senior roles with the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association in Washington, D.C. He’s also long-time, old-school country, folk, rock’n’roll, and heavy metal guitar player and vocalist. He also enjoys mountain biking and exploring the wide-open spaces of New Mexico
