Sustainable Waste Specialist Sandra West

Sandra West, the City of Albuquerque’s Sustainable Waste Specialist, works to increase circularity, focusing primarily on materials management. Since joining the City in April 2022, Ms. West has expanded sustainable waste work to include community composing and food waste prevention and diversion work; partnered with other cities, including Murcia, Spain; and strengthened collaborations across Departments, agencies, and community-based organizations. She has worked in local government, non-profit organizations, and the private sector. Ms. West has a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering and a master’s degree in biology, and she takes a circularity approach to waste management challenges.
