Dionna Arellano approaches public service with a focus on people, relationships, and community input. Originally from Los Angeles, she earned her B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach, and has a background in event coordination, leadership development, and global nonprofit work.
Dionna moved to Albuquerque in 2016 and quickly found a deep appreciation for the city. Whether enjoying cultural events, supporting small businesses, or walking the Bosque with her family, she developed a strong and lasting connection to the community she now calls home.
Since joining the City of Albuquerque in 2022, Dionna has served in the Mayor’s Office, where she developed strong relationships between City leadership and the community, always with a focus on ensuring residents feel seen, heard, and empowered.
In her current role as Civic Engagement Manager, Dionna leads efforts to connect residents with inclusive and accessible opportunities to participate in city governance, foster volunteerism, and amplify community voice. She is passionate about building trust, strengthening civic participation, and creating spaces where Albuquerque residents can shape the future of their city together. Dionna also works closely with the First Lady to support key initiatives across the city.
