Resiliency Residency Program Funds Opportunities for Local Artists to Advance Their Work

City of Albuquerque along with five partner organizations will work with 90 individual artists over the next 16 months.

February 14, 2022 - Ninety Albuquerque-based independent artists have been selected to begin residency projects and receive funding to advance their artistic or cultural work in the City of Albuquerque's Urban Enhancement Trust Fund (UETF) 2022 Resiliency Residency program. Residents will each be awarded $2,500 for their residency projects as they work on public performances, presentations, showcases, and exhibits enhancing creative life in the city.

"We recognize and celebrate the contributions local artists make to our community and want to foster spaces where their careers and art can flourish," said Mayor Tim Keller. "We're excited to partner with local arts organizations on this innovative program to support Albuquerque artists as they advance their work and drive innovation, expression, and inspiration in our city.”

UETF, in partnership with five local non-profit arts organizations: Afro Mundo/The Dellsly Group; Keshet Dance and Center for the Arts; FUSION; National Institute of Flamenco; and Puha Hubiya, is pleased to present this residency opportunity from February 2022 through June 2023. Each organization will work with a group of 18 artists to further their work through a meaningful, perhaps collaborative, commitment to their creative expression. The residency is not site-based but is for Albuquerque artists doing work in the greater Albuquerque area.

234 artists applied for the program. Each selected artist illustrated their commitment to their medium and/or creative expression, and demonstrated how the Resiliency Residency will impact their creative work/project/goals. In addition to the funding, the residency program will offer additional professional development opportunities such as grant writing, event planning, and financial planning.
