The KiMo Theater is a registered Historic Landmark built in 1927. Due to the original design and construction of the building, there are some limitations to accessibility.

The main floor of the building is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and is accessible to all audience members and performers.

Wheelchair Access & Seating Areas

The KiMo was built without an elevator, or any room to put one in. The balcony and upper floors of the building may not be accessible to some persons due to the several flights of stairs.

There are four wheelchair and companion seating areas on the Main Floor.

View KiMo seating charts.

While we do have slightly more than the required number of wheelchair spaces, there is a limit to the number of these spaces.

Transferring to a regular seat may be possible in some areas of the Main Floor (aisle seats in rows A through G). Seating is "first-come, first-served".

The KiMo has limited storage space for wheelchairs. Exits, aisles, and walkways may not be obstructed. (Fire Code)

Ticket Sales for Wheelchair Spaces

Please call the KiMo Theatre Ticket Office during Business Hours and specifically inquire about purchasing tickets for Wheelchair space, Mobility Impaired or Companion seating.

The availability of Wheelchair spaces, Companion and Mobility Impaired seating is limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis and 'At-the-Door' ticket purchase is not recommended for these seating spaces.

Mobility Impaired seating spaces are reserved for mobility impaired customers.

Accessible Parking

Accessible-designated parking spaces are available in the 5th Street and Copper parking garage directly north of the theatre. There is no charge for parking when a State issued Disabled Parking Permit is displayed on your vehicle.

There is a height restriction of 6 ft. 9 in. for vehicles in the parking garage. This will accommodate a regular full sized van or pickup truck, but not one with a raised roof or roof rack.

The distance from these parking spaces to the KiMo's front door is about 300 feet (the length of a football field) of concrete sidewalk.

There are no accessible-designated parking spaces in front of the theatre on Central Avenue. But these metered parking spaces are free for vehicles that display a Disabled Parking Permit.

Parking fees in any privately owned lots are subject to their policies.

Passenger Drop-Off

We have no actual drop-off area, but the sidewalk on 5th Street at the west side of the building can sometimes be used.

Please don't drop off passengers from the traffic lanes in front of the theatre.

Service Animals

Service Animals are welcomed at the KiMo, but space for them in the seating areas of the auditorium during performances is quite limited.

Ushers & Event Staff

Are available during all performances, please let us know if we can assist you in any way.

Restrooms

The Main Floor restrooms on the east side of the Lobby are fully accessible, as well as several water fountains in the Lobby.

Handrails

All stairs and sloped walkways are equipped with handrails.

Assistance Devices

The KiMo is furnished with automatic door openers for the Ticket Office, Main Lobby, and the Auditorium hallway to the restrooms.

The auditorium is equipped with an Assistive Listening System. Receivers are available for loan, free of charge, with a photo ID. Please contact any of the ushers for this service.

A video display is available in the KiMo lobby with a live picture and sound of the stage.

There are electrical outlets for powered medical equipment at each Mobility Impaired seating area. Please contact any of the ushers for this service.

Sign Language

Some event Presenters may provide American Sign Language interpreters for their events. Please contact the event's Presenter for this service. If an Event will be ASL interpreted that fact will be noted in our Performance Schedule listing for the event.

ASL interpreters cannot be provided without sufficient notice. This service is provided at the discretion of the event's Presenter. KiMo staff can provide you with the event Presenter's contact information.

Elevation Note

The elevation at the KiMo is approximately 5,000 feet, or 1,524 meters, above sea level. Visitors from lower elevations can suffer some degree of oxygen deficiency. This can be a serious problem for people with heart or lung conditions and is most noticeable when climbing stairs or with other physical activities.
