Information about the City of Albuquerque's seasonal indoor track.
Home of UNM’s Indoor Track & Field program, the facility features a 200-meter Mondo oval with 60-degree banked turns and six 36-inch lanes. The straight is a panel system Mondo surface with eight 42-inch lanes, which is also used for high jump. The pole vault, long jump and triple jump are on raised runways with Mondo surfacing. The throwing ring is a wooden surface.
Winter is no excuse to stop running.
Each winter, the City of Albuquerque sets up an indoor track inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Although the track is scheduled for collegiate and Special Olympics events, there are opportunities for Albuquerque residents and visitors to use the track, too.
The public is invited to use the track on the following dates/times:
January 21 through February 13, 2014: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.! Please, no spiked shoes...smooth soled running shoes only.
All persons wishing to use the track must sign a waiver of liability once per season; please print and sign. On site staff will collect the forms prior to use.
The indoor track is located in the Albuquerque Convention Center, 401 2nd St NW, East Complex, Fran Hill Exhibition room.
2014 Indoor Track & Field Season Schedule
This is a collegiate indoor track & field meet. Friday 5-8pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
Indoor track and field meet featuring Abilene Christian, Academy of Art, NM State, UTEP, UC-Irvine, Cal State-Stanislaus, and UNM. Friday from 5-8pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
February 7 & 8 New Mexico Classic
This is one of the highest level indoor collegiate track and field meets in the nation. The meet will feature some of the best sprinters and middle distance runners from across the nation. Events are held from 4-9pm.
February 21 - 23 USA Indoor Championships
The USA Indoor Track & Field Championships is the final event of the Indoor Championship Series, which is a prestigious series of nationally televised USA Track & Field competitions featuring the very best track & field athletes from Team USA. Approximately 400 athletes will be competing for a total prize purse of $130,000 and U.S. athletes will be competing for the title of National Champion and will have the opportunity to qualify for Team USA events.
March 14 - 15 NCAA Men's and Women's Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships
The University of New Mexico (UNM) Track & Field program will serve as the host institution with support from the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Albuquerque. The City of Albuquerque introduced a 200-meter Mondo track in 2005 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. In the years since, it has served as UNM’s indoor facility, hosted three USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, two NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, and it will soon host the NCAA Indoor Championships, among many other high caliber track and field events.
