Description
Join the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Chevron for Chevron Community Day, a full day of family-friendly fun, special surprises, and hands-on discovery!
The event focuses on reptile conservation, and the BioPark and Chevron will reveal new features inside the Reptile Building, including:
- A stunning new mural, created by a local New Mexico artist
- A portrait gallery of reptiles from around the world designed to help you see these important species in a new light
- An interactive wall for young guests to discover the kinds of places reptiles call home
- A narrative spotlight on the Rio Grande cooter, a turtle native to New Mexico and a focus of Chevron and the BioPark’s shared conservation work
From 10 am to 2 pm, a variety of hands-on activities plus reptile training sessions, animal care chats, and educational discovery stations will help guests learn more about these amazing animals and how to protect them. Guests can help the reptiles that live near them by creating a reptile refuge to take home!
Teachers with their school ID can pick up free educator appreciation gifts and classroom-ready teaching resources from Chevron while supplies last.
Chevron Community Day follows recent updates to reptile habitats. Learn more about the new home for the alligator snapping turtle and see how the voter-approved GRT funding continues to transform your ABQ BioPark.
Chevron has been part of New Mexico for over a century. As a local partner in conservation, they’re proud to support the BioPark’s efforts to protect native wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Together with the BioPark, Chevron is helping protect native reptile species like the Rio Grande cooter and preserve the New Mexico we all call home.
