To download a handy wallet card listing good seafood choices, go to the Seafood Watch Site
.
The Sustainable Seafood Festival is back! If you love seafood and the oceans, this is the event to attend. Guests will sample a variety of delicious seafood recipes, listen to a Southwest funk band, watch a film and stroll through the aquarium--all while learning how to choose seafood that will help preserve the health of our ocean wildlife and avoid seafood that may prove harmful to the ocean's health.
People once thought that ocean fisheries could never be exhausted, but they were wrong. Increased demand for seafood and the growth of destructive fishing practices have had a profound effect on the health of the oceans. Today, nearly 70% of the world's fisheries are considered either fully fished or over fished. Aproximately 30 million tons of fish, sharks, marine mammals, sea turtles and seabirds die each year as by-catch--animals caught accidentally and discarded dead or dying. We can all make a difference and change the future of the ocean! Come find out how you can help.
Check back for ticket prices and additional event information.

Participants are welcome to bring their own gear as well. In addition, Tingley Outfitters provides basic equipment for purchase inside the Tingley Train Station.
