ABQ Spoken Word Poetry Featuring: The Last Poets Hosted by Hakim Bellamy; Music by Terminator X (of Public Enemy)
Presented by DSH Entertainment, Inc.
When
Where
Description
Even before rap became famous, The Last Poets were creating music and poetry that spoke about real-life problems. The Last Poets are legendary American spoken word artists, poets, and musicians widely recognized as the Forefathers of hip-hop. Formed in Harlem, New York in the late 1960s, The Last Poets emerged during a time of intense social and political change in America, boldly addressing racism, poverty, systemic injustice, and African American empowerment through rhythm-driven poetry.
Their impact on conscious rap, political hip-hop, and modern spoken word culture remains profound and globally respected. People call them the forefathers of hip-hop because they inspired the first rap artists. Their words were strong, honest, and full of meaning. They showed that poetry and music could be used to teach, inspire, and bring change.
The Last Poets gained national attention through their groundbreaking recordings and live performances across the United States. Their self-titled debut album became a landmark release, influencing generations of artists who would later define hip-hop and conscious rap.
Providing music for the event is none other than DJ Terminator X: One of Hip-Hop's Most Legendary DJs:
If you love hip-hop music, then you have definitely heard the beats and sounds that made the genre what it is today. But behind every great rap group, there is always a great DJ. And when we talk about one of the best DJs in hip-hop history, one name that always comes up is DJ Terminator X. He is best known for being the official DJ of one of the biggest hip-hop groups ever - Public Enemy. If you have ever heard the song "Fight the Power or Bring the Noise," then you already know the power of Public Enemy's music, and behind all of that energy on stage and on record was DJ Terminator X, working the turntables and keeping the sound alive.

Close your eyes and imagine the music of the 60s filling the room - warm, bright, and full of life.
Now think of that same sound performed live on stage with energy and heart. That is what The Four C Notes bring to every show. Their tribute show celebrates the unforgettable songs made famous by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Created by John Michael Coppola, the group focuses on staying true to the original style. Frankie Valli is an American singer with a very high and unique voice. He became famous in the 1960s. His voice is easy to recognize and hard to forget. His many hit songs include "Can't Take My Eyes Off You” and “My Eyes Adored You - people still love today.
The Four C Notes were created out of love and respect for the classic music of the 1960s. The group wanted to bring back the true sound, style, and feeling of that golden time. Their goal was simple - help people hear these songs live again and feel the same joy.

An Evening with Keller Williams
Presented by AMP Concerts
When

Description
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Keller Williams is literally a one-man jam band. His fascinating live shows feature him solo on-stage with a Gibson Echoplex Digital Pro looping unit, and he creates and builds his backing loops in the moment, simultaneously improvising on his custom-made ten-string guitar -- and thanks to his equally quirky, upbeat, and semi-surreal songs (which he frequently weaves into extended, half-improvised medleys) and his warm, friendly tenor singing voice, Williams is an utterly unique performer whose musical eccentricities don't keep him from being immediately accessible. Endlessly creative, innovative, and fun, Williams is a fascinating artist, and his somewhat wacky take on the world and his amazing and eccentric guitar talents make him a refreshing performer.

Description
Starting as a happy accident of solo singer/songwriters getting together for a one-time-only performance at a tiny guitar shop in Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Wailin’ Jennys have grown over the years into one of today’s most beloved international folk acts. Founding members Moody and Mehta along with Taos-based Masse continue to create some of the most exciting music on the folk-roots scene, stepping up their musical game with each critically lauded recording, and thrilling audiences with their renowned live performances.
In 2017, The Jennys turned 15 years old. To mark the occasion, the band took time away from the demands of motherhood to record and release a celebratory album for their fans: Fifteen. A carefully curated collection of some of their favorite songs, the new record was recorded true to their live show sound with their long time beloved side players, Richard Moody and Adam Dobres. Steeped in the artistry and elegance that has defined their career, the album presents the Jennys at their very best, highlighting their heartfelt vocals, other worldly harmonies, and sophisticated arrangements. Fifteen was nominated for a Juno award in 2018 for Traditional Roots album of the year. The Jennys are currently on tour , while also road testing new songs for an upcoming studio album.
