The Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Announces the 2022 Summer Reading Program Oceans of Possibilities

Registration for 8-week program opens May 13.

May 6, 2022 - The Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County has announced its 2022 summer reading program, Oceans of Possibilities, a celebration of reading, learning, and fun for people of all ages. Online registration for the free 8-week program begins on Friday, May 13 at https://abqlibrary.org/summerreading. In person registration at library branches will take place during the program's official kickoff on Saturday, June 4.

This year's program returns live and in-person with performances and programs from talented performers, program partners, and library staff. The kickoff on June 4 will include games, crafts, and other activities. Throughout the program participants are encouraged to set a reading goal at a pace they are comfortable with with the chance to win great prizes along the way.

Reading is important for everyone in the community, regardless of age, and is a skill that grows with practice throughout a lifetime. It's free and easy to do because you read whatever you like at your own pace. It's a fun, easy, zero-risk way of showing your support for the Public Library and its services. Participating in summer reading helps children, tweens, and teens develop positive attitudes about reading. They gain self-confidence and a love for reading, books, and the library, and maintain their reading skills during the summer vacation.

Oceans of Possibilities is funded by the Friends of the Public Library.
