The Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Announces the 2022 Summer Reading Program Oceans of Possibilities

Registration for 8-week program opens May 13.

May 6, 2022 - The Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County has announced its 2022 summer reading program, Oceans of Possibilities, a celebration of reading, learning, and fun for people of all ages. Online registration for the free 8-week program begins on Friday, May 13 at In person registration at library branches will take place during the program's official kickoff on Saturday, June 4.

This year's program returns live and in-person with performances and programs from talented performers, program partners, and library staff. The kickoff on June 4 will include games, crafts, and other activities. Throughout the program participants are encouraged to set a reading goal at a pace they are comfortable with with the chance to win great prizes along the way.

Reading is important for everyone in the community, regardless of age, and is a skill that grows with practice throughout a lifetime. It's free and easy to do because you read whatever you like at your own pace. It's a fun, easy, zero-risk way of showing your support for the Public Library and its services. Participating in summer reading helps children, tweens, and teens develop positive attitudes about reading. They gain self-confidence and a love for reading, books, and the library, and maintain their reading skills during the summer vacation.

Oceans of Possibilities is funded by the Friends of the Public Library.
