Terra Prime: Beauty in Knowledge, Knowledge Made Beautiful Exhibition Opens at Gallery One
Discover how knowledge becomes beautiful and how beauty can inspire new ways of knowing.
Terra Prime: Beauty in Knowledge, Knowledge Made Beautiful assembles a group of 13 New Mexico artists whose work emerged through a yearlong exploration of biodiversity, cultural memory, community resilience, and our evolving relationship with the land. Guided by the Terra Prime conversation deck, developed by Dr. Manuel Montoya and collaborators, each artist selected prompts that became catalysts for research, dialogue, and artistic discovery.
Terra Prime: Beauty in Knowledge, Knowledge Made Beautiful opens at Gallery One in City Hall on Thursday, July 16, with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
Rather than offering definitive conclusions, the exhibition invites visitors into an ongoing conversation about place, identity, ecology, and the interconnected systems that shape our lives. Through painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and mixed media, the artists reveal how curiosity, collaboration, and creative inquiry can transform the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.
“Each work represents a unique response to shared conversations, demonstrating how dialogue can generate unexpected connections and new ways of seeing,” explains Public Art Collections Manager Matt Carter.
Terra Prime: Beauty in Knowledge, Knowledge Made Beautiful will be on view through August 14, 2026. The opening reception and show are free and open to the public. Gallery One hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday. Gallery One is located on the first floor of City Hall at 1 Civic Plaza NW.
