Immerse in Magic at the Old Town Holiday Stroll
Enjoy the tree lighting, festive shopping, live performances, and free entry to nearby museums.
Old Town will sparkle with holiday cheer as the City of Albuquerque’s Department of Arts & Culture and area merchants welcome visitors to the Old Town Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. The traditional countdown to the holiday tree lighting at Plaza Don Luis begins at 6 p.m.
“Old Town Holiday Stroll captures the spirit of the season in the heart of Albuquerque,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It’s a great way to support local businesses and performers, and celebrate together with family and friends.”
Free transportation to the event is offered by ABQ Ride bus service on Route 66 or by parking at the following ART locations:
● Route 777 from Singing Arrow Community Center to Old Town.
● Route 766 from Uptown Transit Center to Old Town.
● Route 766 from Central and Unser Transit Center to Old Town.
Plan your bus route by using the Transit App or Google Maps.
Holiday strollers can enjoy live entertainment from local musicians and dance groups throughout Old Town all evening. A number of restaurants in and around Old Town will offer holiday specials during the event.
Strollers will also be treated to free admission at the Albuquerque Museum and Explora, where they can enjoy holiday-themed projects, music, tours of the galleries and exhibits, and shopping at museum stores. During renovations, New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will bring the festivities outdoors from 5-9 p.m., with light-up dinosaurs and a holiday pop-up shop with candy canes, Christmas ornaments, and other festive must-haves.
Old Town Holiday Stroll is free to the public and is a rain-or-shine event. Streets throughout Old Town will close to traffic starting at 3 p.m. on December 5.
