Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting Kick Off the Holidays in Old Town

Longtime tradition continues with shopping, entertainment, and more.

November 26, 2021 - Dozens of Old Town merchants are more than ready to welcome shoppers during the Old Town Holiday Stroll when it returns on Friday, Dec. 3 from 5-9 p.m. The traditional countdown to the tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. in Plaza Don Luis. Holiday strollers can enjoy live entertainment from local musicians and dance groups throughout the evening.
Started by late Old Town business owner Henry Aceves and his wife Karen, the tree lighting is carried on in Henry's memory nearly 30 years later by Plaza don Luis.

Many restaurants in and around Old Town will offer holiday specials throughout the event. Holiday strollers will be treated to free admission to the Albuquerque Museum until 9 p.m. Simple Truth Jazz Band will perform at the museum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and guests can enjoy hands-on fun with an ornament activity from 5-9 p.m.

Old Town Holiday Stroll is free to the public and is a rain or shine event.

Free parking will be available at the lot on the corner of 18th St. and Bellamah Ave. Limited free shuttles shuttles will take event goers to and from the Albuquerque Museum lot near Old Town plaza from 4-9:30 p.m. Streets throughout Old Town will close to traffic starting at 3 p.m.
