Get Out the Boat Shoes: Yacht Rock Revue Docks at Civic Plaza for Downtown Summerfest
August 2, 2022 - The City of Albuquerque's Downtown Summerfest returns to Civic Plaza with national headliner Yacht Rock Revue on Saturday, August 6 from 5 to 10 p.m. Downtown Summerfest will also feature artisans with handmade products, local food trucks, and free activities for kids.
Yacht Rock Revue has already rocked onstage with John Oates, the late Eddie Money, and both versions of the band Player. They’ve trademarked the term “yacht rock,” both metaphorically and literally (U.S. Registration Number 3834195). From humble beginnings in a basement, they now headline sold-out shows across the country. Yacht Rock Revue’s first original record features ten songs inspired by the smooth sounds of the 70s and 80s.
Local entertainment includes:
- 5-5:40 p.m. – Baracutanga (Latin)
- 6-6:40 p.m. – Phil Rocker (Rockabilly)
- 7-8 p.m. – Black Pearl Band NM (New Mexican Variety)
Yacht Rock Revue will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
A variety of food trucks will be around Civic Plaza serving up savory and sweet treats. Free activities for kids include face painting and the plaza playground. A beer garden will be serving local libations and The Shops will feature local artisans and their handmade wares.
There will be free parking in the Civic Plaza and Convention Center parking garages. Other paid parking lots and street parking are available in the surrounding areas. Downtown Summerfest is free to the public. Pets are welcome on leashes. This is a rain or shine event. Event sponsors include iHeart Radio and Lucky Boyz Limousine.
