Old Town will host a Mother’s Day community get-together with live music, pet adoptions, food, and more. Free performances by the Watermelon Mountain Jug Band, Ballet Folklorico Del Norte, and Divino will take place in the Gazebo from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 11.

“There’s no shortage of ways to make a mom feel special, and you can’t go wrong with some fresh air and family time,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Whether it’s in Old Town, a picnic in a park, or a stroll through the Zoo, we have you covered.”

The City of Albuquerque's Animal Welfare Dept. will be onsite with adoptable pets, and they will waive adoption fees as a Mother's Day treat. Kids can enjoy free face painting and a 25-foot climbing wall.

The Gazebo will host Old Town merchants showcasing their specialties. They will be joined by a number of restaurants in Old Town serving their signature dishes. Quick bites ranging from roasted corn to chilaquiles will be available from local food trucks at the event.

Streets in and around Old Town Plaza will be closed to traffic on Mother's Day. Parking is available at the Albuquerque Museum lot and the surrounding areas. Mother's Day in Old Town is a rain or shine event. Well behaved pets on leashes are welcome.

Mother's Day in Old Town is sponsored by iHeart Radio.
