Prepare to embark on an extraordinary journey where science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics converge with a touch of whimsy at the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum's highly anticipated S.T.E.A.M. Night on Saturday, July 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event promises an enchanting evening filled with performances by Circo Globo, live entertainment, delectable culinary delights from food trucks, and endless inspiration for curious minds of all ages.

At the heart of the event lies a collaboration between the wonders of S.T.E.A.M. and the exhilarating world of circus arts by Circo Globo instructors. The Department of Arts & Culture’s Circo Globo program is an intensive circus arts program for local youth ages 7 to 13. Over the past six weeks, participants have been training with instructors in the circus arts (think stilting, juggling, aerials, and clowning), building confidence, and learning about career opportunities in arts and culture.

“Aerial performance links back to the earliest days of ballooning when women aeronauts dazzled crowds with daring trapeze acts while dangling from the basket of a balloon as featured in our women in ballooning exhibit: In Their Words. This S.T.E.A.M. Night we honor the performative nature of early ballooning with our circus theme with an evening of delight,” said Balloon Museum Manager Nan Masland.

In addition to the performances by Circo Globo instructors, S.T.E.A.M. Night will offer a wide range of engaging activities and live entertainment. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits and participate in hands-on experiments that merge art and science. Food trucks will also be onsite with treats for purchase.Newly on view: Bryce Risley: Focusing Beyond Balloons showcases the work of Santa Fe-based photographer and balloonist Bryce Risley. Risley is currently engaged in collecting images and stories from members of Albuquerque’s hot air ballooning community. This exhibition of thirty photographs is a small sample of the work that he has collected so far. See more of Bryce's work and learn how you can meet the artist by following him on social media.

S.T.E.A.M. Night on July 22 is free to the public.
