City Hosts Pop-Up Event at Route 66 Visitor Center
Community event showcases local talent and progress toward reopening the venue.
The City of Albuquerque’s Department of Arts & Culture invites the community to a pop-up event at the Route 66 Visitor Center Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will highlight local entertainment and cuisine, as well as the exciting momentum building around the future of this west side cultural venue.
Highlights include live performances by Baila! Baila! with Mariachi Tenampa from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and DB Gomez and the Bosque Boys from 1 to 3 p.m. There will also be food trucks and opportunities to experience areas of the Route 66 Visitor Center as it prepares to open for expanded public use and events.
“This center is becoming a landmark to Albuquerque’s Route 66 experience,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It’s a place where art, music, and community come together overlooking the Duke City to celebrate our City’s heritage.”
The Route 66 Visitor Center, located near Nine Mile Hill, represents a key step in revitalizing Albuquerque’s connection to the Mother Road during the Route 66 Centennial celebration. As the City continues to work toward a full opening, pop-up events like this offer a first look at how the space will serve as a centerpiece for culture and community pride.
