Centennial Concert Series Returns to Route 66 Visitor Center
Free performances, local food and drink on tap for September.
The New Mexico Music Hall of Fame brings its second Centennial Concert Series to the City of Albuquerque’s Route 66 Visitor Center amphitheater in September. Each performance will feature uniquely themed hall-of-fame artists celebrating distinctive New Mexico music.
The free concert series returns Saturdays September 12, 19 and 26; and October 3 and 10; plus Sunday October 4 with performances beginning at noon and continuing through the afternoon. The lineup spans a wide range of sounds from Latin, jazz and country to Tejano, blues and old-school favorites.
As Mother Road centennial celebrations continue, the Route 66 Visitor Center is quickly becoming a landmark destination for creativity and culture. Along with its Centennial Roots photography exhibition, Route 66 Remixed activations, and the newly opened Neon @ Nine Mile Hill sign park, the concert series offers another reason to experience the center. Local food trucks will be on site each week with a variety of offerings.
“Lots of people finally got to experience our Route 66 Visitor Center during State of the City,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It’s open to all, and there’s so much to see – like that view from the amphitheater, which will make an excellent backdrop to some great live music.”
The Route 66 Visitor Center will have expanded hours of operation during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The center will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 4-11.
