Casa San Ysidro Presents Heritage Day 2023

Free annual celebration of local heritage in collaboration with the Corrales Historical Society.

May 3, 2023 - Casa San Ysidro is pleased to announce Heritage Day 2023. Each year in May, Casa San Ysidro joins the Corrales Historical Society in celebrating the area’s local heritage with a free event that exhibits the living traditions of New Mexico. The historical heart of Corrales comes alive with opportunities for engagement on May 13.

Heritage Day 2023 runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and during the event, visitors can explore the museum's collection of rare artifacts, participate in a variety of historical activities, listen to live music, and learn about folk art from traditional New Mexican artists. Throughout the day, participants may visit with a local blacksmith as he works the forge, eat horno baked goods, try leather punching, plant seeds with the Master Gardeners, spin and weave wool with Las Aranas Spinners and Weavers Guild, participate with the Acoma Pueblo Enchanted Dancers, and more.

“We’re thrilled to be able to join the Corrales Historical Society for this free annual event that offers guests a variety of experiences,” said Aaron Gardner, site manager for Casa San Ysidro. “This year we have an impressive lineup of participating artists sharing their craft in several demonstrations. Whether you’re into Old World skills or Native American dance, there’s something for everyone.”
