We still have openings, so it’s not too late to sign your child up for BioPark Beginnings classes!
BioPark Beginnings gives children and accompanying adults the opportunity to explore the amazing world of animals and plants through the BioPark’s Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, and Rio Grande Botanic Garden.
“Asia” will be the theme, with each class highlighting one of the BioPark’s unique species. Upcoming classes feature seahorses, komodo dragons, snow leopards, the garden railroad, and many others. The classes are designed to engage multiple learning styles through games, songs, movement, art, hands-on materials, and visits to the exhibits. Activities for a wide range of ages and skills are facilitated through active parent participation.
Ann Gallegos, BioPark Beginnings Instructor, brings over thirty years of experience in elementary and early childhood education to the program. Her imaginative games, songs, and art projects are specially created for each plant and animal. In class, Gallegos is a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher, who sparks the imagination and excites the senses of her young students.
The BioPark Beginnings spring session includes 12 classes from January to April 2009. Classes alternate weekly between the Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Zoo. Guests will find out if elephants are really afraid of mice, if wolves howl at the moon, and if ostriches hide their head in the sand. With Groundhog Day right around the corner, guests will also learn if rodents can actually predict the weather.
At the Aquarium: Learn more about marine life as you visit special winter Discovery Stations near the watery exhibits throughout the facility.
