This series of informal, lunchtime lectures presents the science of conservation. Topics include plant and animal themes relevant to the BioPark, and presenters may be BioPark staff or field experts.
Brown Bag seminars take place twice a month (on a Thursday and a Saturday), alternating between the Aquarium/Garden and the Zoo locations. Lectures at the Zoo are included with regular admission. There is no fee to attend the lectures at the Aquarium/Garden. Call (505) 848-7180 for more information.

BioVan Rangers (ages 18 and up) support the BioVan program by helping teach about the Rio Grande at schools and special events in the Albuquerque area. Rangers may also assist with the tours and activities in the Rio Grande bosque on Fridays with the Rio Rangers.

BioPark Beginnings gives children and accompanying adults the opportunity to explore the amazing world of animals and plants through the BioPark’s Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, and Rio Grande Botanic Garden.
Ann Gallegos, BioPark Beginnings Instructor, brings over thirty years of experience in elementary and early childhood education to the program. Her games, songs, and art projects are specially created for each plant and animal. In class, Gallegos is a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher, who sparks the imagination and excites the senses of her young students.
The BioPark Beginnings spring session includes 12 classes from January to April 2010. Classes alternate weekly between the Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Zoo. Registration for the full 12-week session is $150, and the price includes one child and one adult. Up to two additional children may join each adult and are $75 each. NM BioPark Society members receive a 10% discount.

Sleep next to the sharks at this family-friendly event. Participants will learn about interesting facts about ocean species and their nighttime behavior during this special Aquarium sleepover. Includes games and crafts, Touchpool visit and ocean film fest in the theater. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

At the Aquarium, discover the Ocean. Learn about sharks, sea turtles, coral and other ocean dwellers as you visit special winter Discovery Stations around the Aquarium.
