Renovation and Development Underway at South San Jose Park

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that renovation and development efforts are officially underway at South San Jose Park, a beloved 4.7-acre neighborhood park in the historic South Valley community of Albuquerque.

Construction is scheduled to begin February 23, 2026, and is projected to be completed by December 22, 2026.

For more than 30 years, South San Jose Park has served as a gathering place for families and residents. The upcoming improvements will revitalize the park’s amenities, enhance safety and accessibility, and create expanded recreational opportunities for community members of all ages.

Planned enhancements include consolidating play areas to create a more engaging and cohesive play experience, expanding walking opportunities, and increasing shade throughout the park for greater comfort and usability. In addition, landscape improvements will focus on sustainability, incorporating water-efficient design practices to enhance existing green spaces while promoting responsible water consumption.
