Description
This fun evening features two of New Mexico’s most compelling blues artists. Levi Platero is from the Navajo Nation. His family band, The Plateros, emerged on the music scene in 2004 as a blues rock power trio compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Los Lonely Boys and ZZ Top. After a decade of touring with his family band, Levi decided it was time to get back to his own music as a solo artist. He recruited a new band, began touring, and released a self-titled EP featuring the single "Take Me Back," which went on to win the 2016 Native American Music Award for Best Blues.
Jhett Black opens the show, drawing from years of experience on the road with underground folk rock band, Gleewood, and his passion for American roots music. Foot stomping rhythms and raucous slide guitar interweave with soulful gospel roots and balladry. The internationally received songwriter draws from deep sources such as Lead Belly and Howlin’ Wolf, while illustrating ballads with lyrical nods to storytellers like Johnny Cash, and Nick Cave.
Doors open at 6:30 pm.
