DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 8: City Recruiting Host Sites for 2023 Mayor's Creative Youth Corps

Summer mentorship provides youth arts based leadership opportunities; chance for local orgs to engage youth.

February 28, 2023 - The City of Albuquerque Department of Arts & Culture is looking for arts and culture organizations/programs interested in serving as host sites for the 2023 class of the Mayor's Creative Youth Corps (MCYC). MCYC is a professional development, paid summer mentorship program for youth interested in arts-based leadership opportunities.

Interested organizations should fill out and submit the form found at https://bit.ly/3YC513t no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 8, 2023.  

Interested high school students entering their junior or senior year and recent graduates living in the Albuquerque metro area are eligible to apply. MCYC provides Albuquerque’s creative youth a safe and meaningful opportunity to develop their skills, build a professional network, and prepare for the future. This year's dates are June 1 through July 28 (with the exception of July 4). 

Each MCYC participant will be assigned to a different host site and work closely with a mentor or a team of mentors to develop skills in the creative sector. Projects could range from designing and printing original t-shirts; supporting summer programming for young children; painting murals; creating and editing videos; and planning for festivals and events across Albuquerque. 

Previous partner organizations include: Various City of Albuquerque departments; Albuquerque Museum; Public Art; Explora; Flamenco Works; Fourteenfifteen Gallery; FUSION; National Institute of Flamenco; T-Shirt Lab; The Children's Hour; Three Sister's Kitchen; Together 4 Brothers; and Working Classroom.
