Performers
Chris Dracup & Funk of The West
Chris Dracup is a lifelong New Mexico musician who began performing at age fifteen in his hometown of Taos. A singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist, he has been part of many of the state’s most popular bands, including The Muttz, The Rattle Cats, Soul Kitchen, and Funk of the West. His soulful electric and acoustic blues style—rooted in delta traditions—blends seamlessly with soul, reggae, and original music. A career highlight came when The Muttz reached the final round of Ed McMahon’s Star Search. Chris has performed at major regional festivals and opened for renowned artists such as Taj Mahal, Arlo Guthrie, Joe Walsh, UB40, The Wailers, and many more. His dynamic musicianship has made him a staple of New Mexico’s music scene for decades.
Chris Dracup was inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
Hillary Smith & Chill House
Hillary Smith’s musical journey began at just three years old in her hometown of Hobbs, New Mexico, when she surprised a live band at a local restaurant by asking to sing “Jesus Loves Me”—and stole the show. After moving to Albuquerque to study music at UNM, she quickly became known for her powerful voice and was soon hired by the acclaimed group Fat City. Her career grew as she shared stages with nationally recognized artists and began recording with top musicians, including fellow New Mexico Music Hall of Fame inductees Doug Lawrence and Bobby Shew. Hillary has earned multiple honors from the New Mexico Music Awards, including the prestigious Eric Larson Lifetime Achievement Award. She continues to perform with Honey House, Hillary Smith & Chill House, and AJO, showcasing her soulful blend of funk, blues, and gospel.
Hillary Smith was inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame in 2021.
