Description

The Route 66 Visitor Center is turning up the volume in celebration of 100 years of the Mother Road with the Centennial Concert Series, presented by the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame.

Join the celebration every Saturday from April 11 through May 30, noon to 4 pm, for live performances by some of New Mexico’s most celebrated musicians. Enjoy the sounds of local talent, grab a bite from local food trucks, and sip on a drink from Tractor Brewing Company.

While visiting, explore Centennial Roots, a striking photographic exhibit that captures the landscapes, cultures, and traditions shaped alongside Route 66 in New Mexico.

Entertainment Schedule

Saturday, May 2 – Throwback to 60s & 70s - Variety

Food and Drink Options

Come hungry and enjoy a variety of local flavors available for purchase. Visit The Munchie Truck for a local favorite, a green chile cheeseburger with fries, or try loaded pulled pork nachos. Gourmet Doner Kebab will be serving up European street food; try a chicken or lamb wrap filled with fresh toppings. Refresh with a cold beer from Tractor Brewing Company.

Performers

Picoso

An Albuquerque-based band featuring a group of highly talented musicians who have been entertaining audiences for several years. This musical presentation will include ten New Mexico Music Hall of Fame alumni: Ray Avila (2009), Pete Gabaldon (2007), Johnnie J. Armijo (2017), Franc Chewiwie (2018), Sal Garcia (2005), Alfred Bourget (2004), Luis “Smoothie” Soto (2004), Ray Lucero (2018), Eva Torrez (2023), and Tony Quinones (2022).

Franc Chiwiwie

Franc Chewiwie is a renowned pianist and a hidden gem in Albuquerque who has spent decades sharing his love of music with the community. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, he began playing piano at just four years old and has since performed for audiences around the world.

A 2018 inductee into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame, Chewiwie continues to inspire by teaching piano lessons to children in his community. His lifelong dedication to music and education has touched countless lives and continues to shape the next generation of musicians.
