Performers
Ivón Ulibarri & Café Mocha
With five decades of musical legacy, three award-winning albums, and an unwavering commitment to education and community in New Mexico, Ivon has become a true pioneer and visionary bandleader. With numerous accolades and even international recognition, this humble musician—whose roots began in Tucumcari, New Mexico—has risen to become one of the most highly regarded music aficionados in the region.
Ivon’s musical achievements are far too extensive to capture in a short introduction, but one thing remains certain: when Ivon and her powerhouse group, Café Mocha, take the stage, excellence speaks for itself. Ivon was inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame in 2025.
Cesar Bauvellet
There is a maestro among us—Cesar Bauvallet. From an early age in Cuba, his musical destiny was clear. Influenced by his father and older siblings, music was never an option—it was a calling. After excelling in an aptitude test as a child, Cesar was accepted into the prestigious Amadeo Roldán Municipal Conservatory of Music, an institution known for notable alumni such as Paquito D'Rivera.
He quickly rose to become one of the go-to trombone players, performing alongside members of the Buena Vista Social Club and renowned trumpet master Arturo Sandoval. After relocating to Albuquerque, Cesar and his family helped form the authentic Cuban-influenced salsa group Son Como Son, which would go on to become one of the most prominent bands in New Mexico’s music scene.
The rest is history. Cesar Bauvallet was inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
