Come on in for an entertaining and educational workshop on creating kadomatsu, hosted this year in the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden's High Desert Rose Garden Atrium. The Horticulture team will guide you through making own miniature kadomatsu to take home as they simultaneously create two full-sized arrangements to flank the entrance to the Sasebo Japanese Garden. These large arrangement will be on display there afterward through January 19, 2026.
Kadomatsu are a Japanese New Year's tradition of pine and bamboo arrangements, adorned with other symbolic seasonal elements. Kadomatsu are said to attract beneficial spirits and represent virtues such as strength, flexibility, vitality, and purity.
