Informal use of the park is free, though the park is sometimes closed for special events.
Since the Northern Launch field is large, the park is best suited for medium to larger events.

The banquet facility at the training center is also available for weddings.

LAFL Landfill Management Plan
In the 2011 General Obligation Bond Program, the Citizens of Albuquerque approved $500,000 for the development of this Tribute Area, and the Cultural Services Department contributed another $85,000.
The Sandia Peak Ski and Sandia Peak Tram Companies provided an additional $250,000 in 2012. With this money, Phase One of the four acre park has been developed (pictured above). It has a strong graphic design visible from the air, and provides a framework for future improvements including the development of a balloon demonstration area.
As the Tribute Area develops, it will be playful and inviting for children and adults, and connect the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum with the multi-use Balloon Fiesta Park.
With your support, the completed Tribute Area will provide an outdoor space for the remembrance and celebration of courageous balloonists.
