Sunrise Terrace Park Improvements Completed

Over $100,000 in improvements to the park on Albuquerque’s southwest mesa.

City Council President Klarissa Peña and the Parks and Recreation Department are proud to announce the completion of improvements to Sunrise Terrace Park.

“Sunrise Terrace Park is now more inviting than ever for kids and families in southwest Albuquerque,” stated Dave Simon, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Our thanks go to Councilor Klarissa Peña, Senator Linda Lopez, and Representative Georgene Louis for investing in high quality green spaces in Albuquerque.”

Sunrise Terrace Park located at 850 102nd St. SW, is a great and well used neighborhood park for the families in the surrounding area. Recent improvements to the park included:

  • 3 cool topper shades for the play structure
  • New play surfacing with wood chips making it ADA accessible
  • New LED lights on 20’ poles
  • New picnic tables
  • New benches
  • New trash receptacles

“These improvements at Sunrise Terrace Park continue our efforts with the Parks and Recreation Department to refurbish and develop our park spaces for our families in the southwest area of Albuquerque. I want to thank Senator Linda Lopez and Representative Georgene Louis for their help in securing State Capital Funds for the project,” said Councilor Peña.

The total cost for the improvements was $110,589.94. Funding came from the G.O. Bond Program and Councilor Set-Aside for Parks in the amount of $50,589.94 and $60,000 came from 2018 State Capital Outlay Funds with support from State Senator Linda Lopez and State Representative Georgene Louis.
