Park & Chill Pilot Program Parking Lot Instructions
City Council Vice-President and District 3 Councilor, Klarissa J. Peña, together with District 1 Councilor Louie Sanchez and District 2 Councilor Joaquín Baca want all Park & Chill participants, spectators, and businesses to enjoy the pilot program this summer. Councilor Peña extends her deep appreciation to Lorenzo "House" Otero and the entire lowrider community for their tireless help. Special thanks go to Councilor Baca and the downtown businesses for their support with starting the pilot at "The Lot" Downtown, and to Councilor Sanchez and Joe Lujan for helping get "The Lot 2" started at Nuevo Atrisco Food Park.
Here are important items to keep in mind to ensure we all continue to enjoy our evenings with the lowriders!
Where: "The Lot" - The parking lot north of Central Ave. between 6th and 7th St (601 Central Ave. NW ) in Downtown
"The Lot 2" - Nuevo Atrisco Food Park at 7921 Central AV NW on the Westside
When: Sunday Nights from 4-8pm at the parking lot on Central between 6th and 7th St
Sunday Nights from 5-9pm at Nuevo Atrisco Food Park
How To Use the Lots:
- Parking spaces are reserved for lowriders to park their vehicles on a first come, first served basis.
- Lowrider parking spaces cannot be saved or reserved for vehicles not present. Each vehicle can only take up one parking space. Parking outside of parking spaces will not be allowed and will be enforced.
- For the Downtown parking lot:
- Enter the lot through the entrance on the east side of the lot (off of 6th St.).
- Starting at 4pm, the lowrider community will direct vehicles coming in and out of the lot (self-regulate).
- All vehicles must be off the premises by 8:00 pm.
- For the Westside parking lot:
- Enter Nuevo Atrisco Food Park from Central Ave. on the South side of the Park.
- Starting at 5pm, the lowrider community will direct vehicles coming in and out of the lot (self-regulate).
- All vehicles must be off the premises by 9:00 pm.
- Vendors will not be permitted in the parking lots.
- City regulations and policies must be followed at all times inside and outside of the parking lots.
- Report issues or incidents immediately to the Albuquerque police department at 911.
- There will be security to provide “eyes on the street” around the perimeter of the lots. Security will not go in the lots and are not responsible for managing traffic or directing cars into the lots.
- Users are responsible for picking up any garbage on the lots.
Rules and Etiquette:
- All Modified Vehicles Welcome! This is a chill space to share your passion with the community.
- No Exhibition Driving. That means no peeling out, no doughnuts, and no bouncing on hydraulics.
- Be Courteous When Parking. Some vehicles need extra space - just be mindful and respectful of your neighbors.
- Follow the Rules of the Road: All vehicles must follow the City of Albuquerque's Traffic Code.
