Winter Fire Colors at the Botanic Garden

Saturday, January 9-Sunday, February 28, 9:00am-5:00pm

Visit the Mediterranean Conservatory for a floral display of hot colors sure to warm up the cold days of winter.

Insect Volunteer Training

Thursday, February 11, 9:30am-3:30pm

Teach in Albuquerque elementary schools about insects and other arthropods. Training includes information on arthropod biology and animal handling.

Valentine's Day at the Zoo and Aquarium

Sunday, February 14, 10:00am-2:00pm

Seahorse

Visit special Discovery Stations around the zoo to learn about the amazing ways that animals attract a mate.  Find out how the zoo acts as a “dating service” for endangered animals, such as gorillas, elephants and wolves, as part of the Species Survival Program. Call (505) 764-6214 for more information about Zoo activities.

 

At the Aquarium, visit Discovery Stations to find out how male seahorses get pregnant, look for courtship in the coral reef and learn why some fish change gender! Call (505) 848-7180 for more information about Aquarium activities.

Winter Wool Festival at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden

Saturday, February 20, 10:00am-2:00pm

A Navajo churro sheep looks forward to the Winter Wool Festival at the Heritage Farm

Join us at the Heritage Farm to celebrate the connections between plants, animals and people! Watch artisans at work, learn about natural dyes made from plants and follow the process used to turn Navajo Churro sheep wool into sweaters and blankets.

Aquarium Overnight

Friday-Saturday, February 26-27, 7:00pm-8:00am

Sleep next to the sharks at this family-friendly event. Participants will learn interesting facts about ocean species and their nighttime behavior during this special Aquarium sleepover. Includes games and crafts, Touchpool visit and ocean film fest in the theater. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Cost: $30/person. Group size is limited. Pre-registration is required and and participation is reserved only after payment is received. Call (505) 848-7180 for more information and to register.

Touchpool Volunteer Training

Touchpool

Introduce visitors to sharks, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, sea urchins and other fascinating animals as you teach about marine habitats. Must be 16 or older.
