UPDATE:

APD’s Motors unit was called out to a fatal crash located at 3021 4th St NW (area of 4th St and Hudson Ave NW). During the investigation it was determined that a gray early 2000’s Ford F350 was traveling southbound on 4th St. at a high rate of speed and the driver was driving erratically according to witnesses. As the F350 approached Hudson Ave a white Dodge pickup truck pulled out of a business parking lot and was struck on the driver’s side by the F350.

The driver of the Dodge pick-up suffered severe injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel from AFR.

A subsequent crash occurred involving a silver sedan which crashed into the rear of the Dodge pickup and gray F350. This crash occurred after the initial crash between the first two vehicles.

The driver of the F350 was detained on scene and officers from the APD DWI unit conducted an investigation that lead to the arrest of the driver. The driver of the silver sedan was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This investigation is ongoing at his point. At this time it does appear that alcohol, drugs and speed were contributing factors for this crash. Charges were filed against the driver of the gray F350 at this time.
