APD Increases Hiring Bonuses for Police Cadets

The Albuquerque Police Department has increased hiring bonuses for Police Cadets in an effort to encourage more individuals to join the police department.

In August, the department announced increased hiring bonuses for lateral officers, Police Cadets and Public Service Aides. The hiring bonus for Police Cadets is now at $10,000, up from $5,000.

Upon hiring, Lateral Police Officers will receive $15,000, the newly upped $5,000 for Police Cadets, and $1,500 for PSAs. Additionally, Dispatchers and Telecommunication Operators will also receive a $1,500 hiring bonus.

“We continue to be competitive as we incentivize bringing more officers to the department,” said Chief Harold Medina. “Public safety is of top priority and the city is making strong investments to bring the best and most qualified individuals to APD and fight crime.”
