ALBUQUERQUE – After a successful month and a half of license plate and speeding operations citywide, the Albuquerque Police Department will continue enforcement on these issues and will be expanding operations.

The operations specifically looking for license plate related infractions, launched in late January and continued through the month of February. Many traffic stops led to multiple citations and more specifically, felony arrests that stemmed from outstanding warrants.

The second round of traffic enforcement operations will be conducted by the Field Services Bureau and Specialized Units. Field Services officers will conduct speeding enforcement in hotspot areas of the city. The Specialized Units will conduct traffic enforcement in other areas of the city in an attempt to reduce speeding.

Officers will also continue to focus on vehicles operating without license plates in those targeted hotspot areas. The first day of operations began on March 1, 2023 and resulted in successful traffic stops, citations and arrests.
