APD arrests woman for 2019 murder of her boyfriend

June 9, 2022

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested Jasminn Obleton on Wednesday for the 2019 murder of her boyfriend Derrick Casey.

Homicide detectives allege that Obleton, 34, shot Casey in the back of the neck during a confrontation at an apartment located at 1200 Madeira Dr. S.E. on Feb. 24, 2019.

Detectives interviewed Obleton after the shooting and she admitted that she enlisted friends to help her drag Casey’s body down some stairs and drive it down the street, where it was left in a parking lot at 1008 Alvarado S.E. The body was wrapped with a tarp and a blanket.

Through additional investigation, including witness statements and other facts, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant in February 2022. She was arrested Wednesday in Albuquerque and booked into the Metro Detention Center for an open count of murder and tampering with evidence.

Two other suspects were arrested earlier this year and charged for their roles in the murder.
