APD arrests third suspect in 2022 Downtown Bar Homicide
ALBUQUERQUE -- APD detectives arrested Armando Martinez this week for the 2022 murder of Jonathan Garza outside a Downtown bar.
APD previously arrested Isaac Martinez and Alejandro Barton for the Feb. 19, 2022, murder.
Witnesses said Garza, 30, was a well-known fitness trainer who was defending his brother as he attempted to break up a fight between individuals who gathered at the Canvas Artistry at One Central Ave. After the fight, Garza was shot several times. The shooter was identified by witnesses as a heavy set Hispanic or Native American male, wearing all black, with a gold chain around his neck, wearing a black designer satchel or purse with a strap across his body and had a “squared haircut.”
Armando Martinez, 23, was booked into the Metro Detention Center on an open count of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
